Description: This vintage landscape painting has a note on the back written by the artist: "Painted Dec. 1938. An old Adobe in the shadow of the Taos mountains Santa Fe N.M. Aunt Agnes" The painting is signed in the lower right with the artist's last name, Day. The painting is oil on board. It measures 8" x 10". With the original wooden frame it measures 10" x 12". This painting is in only fair condition crackling and flaking of paint. The finish of the frame has worn especially on the edges with some noticeable gaps at the corners. Agnes Nelson Day (1885-1963) studied art at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; the Art Students League; and the University of Colorado, Boulder. In 1930, she moved to Houston where she taught in public schools. She was active in the Annual Houston Artists Exhibition (1940, 1943, and 1946), the Texas-Oklahoma General Exhibition, Texas Fine Arts Association Exhibition, Annual Texas Artists Circuit Exhibition, and the Contemporary Arts Association of Houston.
