Admiral T.H. Moorer Chief of US Naval Operations Signed Photo USS Liberty

Description: Item up for sale is a fantastic vintage framed and signed photo of Admiral Thomas Hinman Moorer that was signed to a Harry Turner of Greenville, SC with a Greenville, SC framing shop label on the reverse side. This piece was signed while Admiral Moorer was serving as the Chief of Naval Operations which would place this piece to being signed sometime between 1967 and 1970. Photo is faded considerably to a point we believe it was hung in an office for many years with exposure to direct sunlight. Frame shows soiling and paint loss and surface wear / scratches throughout with wood showing no cracks or breaks. The glass could use a detail cleaning with no chips, cracks or breaks visible. Hanging hardware in in place on the reverse side. Matting around the photo shows yellowing, patina and areas of discoloration. Admiral Moorer was a highly decorated veteran of the Navy who became quite controversial for his open questioning of the USS Liberty attack by the Israeli military and continued calls for investigations and accusations of a coverup. He would also be implicated in taking part in a spy ring during the Nixon Administration though he was never formally accused or charged. Entire framed display measures 14-3/4" top to bottom by 11-7/8" wide by 0-7/8" in depth (including hanging hardware). Wonderfull piece of history that comes fresh to the market.
