Description: Up for sale is a first edition of Willa Cather's A Lost Lady published by Knopf in 1923. The book measures 7.75" X 5.5" and is 174 pages in length. The dust jacket still has a fairly attractive front panel, but there is damp-staining scattered over the entire thing along with some repairs by the previous owner to the head of the spine. Additionally, the dust jacket is about 1/4" too short for the book (though other sellers on ABE mention this same issue so my assumption is that it's a production flaw rather than a trimmed jacket). The book itself also has damp-staining at the head of the spine in the same area where the jacket has been repaired. The decorative front endpaper is present, but the next page is the half-title page, so there is at least one (and perhaps 2?) missing blank pages (see 18th photo and note how there is evidence in the spine gutter that a page has been removed--there is also obviously a gift inscription shown in this same image). Structurally, the book is still quite readable with tight hinges and a sturdy binding; the text is unmarked. Please be sure to fully enlarge the provided photos, and feel free to contact me with any questions you may have.
