Description: This is a wonderful game. I've played this copy many times. The box is scuffed up but serviceable, and the map, rules, and pieces are in fine condition. Here's a nice intro from Wikipedia: A House Divided is a strategic level board wargame set in the American Civil War for two players, featuring point-to-point movement, low-complexity rules, and relatively few counters to maneuver. It was designed by Frank Chadwick and published in 1981 by Game Designers Workshop (GDW). The basic rules are only eight pages long, but then it adds optional rules and an advanced rulebook (which is where the real fun starts.) The game mechanics are simple and elegent. Each side rolls for the number of orders they can make each turn. The battle system is not just a single space battle, but allows reinforcements out of adjacent areas join in. Then, the winner can promote one unit from militia, then to veteran, then to crack. Cavalry can hop over one enemy space, like in checkers. Recruitment cities determine maximum army size, which is one key to victory. Expect to take a full afternoon or evening to play the full war, but there are shorter scenarios.
