8 TIFFIN (U.S. GLASS) CRANBERRY FLASHED "KING'S CROWN" 10 1/4 INCH DINNER PLATES

CRANBERRY FLASHED "KING'S CROWN" 10 1/4 INCH DINNER PLATES IN MOSTLY GREAT CONDITION. The one price is for all 8 dinner plates. These were made from 1950 to 1965, making these dinner plates between 59 and 74 years old. This is a very old hand pressed design originally made in the late 1800s by U.S. Glass Co, called "Thumbprint Line No. 4016". This design was so successful that over 25 different glass companies made look-a-likes designed Thumbprints. However, these cranberry-flashed glass dinner plates were made by U.S. Glass Co. Factory "R" The Tiffin Glass Co. because of the long drawn-out oval thumbprints designs from original Tiffin molds. When Indiana Glass Co. purchased the molds from Tiffin, Indiana subtly changed the molds into rounded thumbprints. Each dinner plate measures 10 1/4 inches in diameter and stands about 3/4 inches high. The major problem with finding "mint" condition is that the cranberry flashing is extremely soft and scratches very easily. Most of the plates are in very good condition with very little scratching if any. However, the last two plates have a little scrubbing of the cranberry flashing as seen in the last two photographs. I photographed all 8 dinner plates with the bright light behind each, which is the only way to see how the cranberry flashing is intact on each plate. From the top they all look perfect. Apparently these dinner plates were hardly ever used because of the lack of scratches on their bottoms. I found them on a top shelf inside a dining room closet, where they apparently sat for many years and were hard to reach. I only wish that I had more of this pattern because it is so beautiful. When used on a dining room table for entertainment, these cranberry flashed dinner plates must have been really looked awesome on the table, because they are just that gorgeous. They were purchased from a very old estate sale on Long Island. Please remember that it was preowned and used, and so that's why there are a few scratches. I have been collecting unusual vintage objects for years and I always try to described the items as beget as I can. Except for those small scratches and scruff marks already mentioned and photographed, there are no other scratches, chips, fleabites, cracks, stains, cloudiness, or repairs anywhere. They come from a smoke-free home. I only accept PayPal, and never charge extra for packaging and handling.
