I found that the fatter the pods got, the woodier they were. Best to eat while they are still fairly slender. Native to desert Africa, these do excellent in terrible soil and poor watering conditions. I did find that like most tropical climate plants, they have a slow start but once they take off, man they get big quick! This was a very exciting plant to grow! Huge and Majestic! The flowers were about the size of my hand and so lovely.
