It was authorized at Frankfurt in 1970 during the period Willy Brandt was Chancellor. "West" Germany, officially the "Federal Republic" was set up by the Allies in 1949 after World War II. It lasted until 1990 when "East" and "West" once again became "Germany". "Standard Catalog of World Paper Money" (Modern Issues 1960-) by Albert Pick. #31a.
