To my bidders: For years I have done business on eBay using the name: gpstorageco*. The items I will be selling from this point on are being sold from my estate and from the estates of friends and relatives. This Vintage 1946 OK "New" Twin Model Airplane Engine belonged to a friend of mine who recently passed away. He collected vintage & modern model airplane engines as well as almost everything else. I will be selling items from his collection over the next several months. This Vintage 1.208 cubic inch Herkimer OK "New" Twin Model Airplane Engine shows minimal wear and ageing (see photos). It has two piece cast aluminum cases, with OK & patent numbers on the bypass and each cylinder has a period Champion spark plug (see photos). The back cover is also die cast aluminum with bronze bearings and the serial number (60167) stamped on the top front flange. The front cover has a ball bearing and cylinders are beautifully turned from steel bar stock, with lower fins notched for screws holding the cylinder, black exhaust stacks and lower case together securely. The "New" Twin had a three piece steel shaft of welded construction with connecting rods as a unit. Pistons with bronze pins were turned and bored from bar stock steel. The under engine venturi is die cast aluminum with a long shaft needle valve and the diecast timer is slightly larger than that of an OK Super 60 to support the screws which limited timer travel (see photos) The crankshaft on this twin turns freely and you can hear the compression through the exhaust vents. The engine measures approximately 5.5 x 8 inches overall and has not been tested for functionality. It is sold as is.
