This vintage photograph is offered for sale as a collectible item and conveys no transfer of copyright. 1925 Press Photo Navy Cyclone P-1 airplane at Anacostia Naval Air Station The Cyclone, or P-1 type, developed exclusively for the Bureau of Aeronautics of the Navy Department is said the be the greatest stop in the progress of aviation since the war. The motor air cooled develops 450 horsepower. It is a radial motor of nine cylinders and resemblers the rotary motors used in pursuit planes during the war. The cylinders differ from those of the rotary motors not revolving with the propeller, have a 6 inch bore and 6 1/2 inch stroke. It is expected this plane will play an important role in the commercialization of aviation for both passenger and cargo transportation.
