Description: Probably used pirated photos to make this Stereoview. No publisher listed. Colorizing them was popular in the early 1900's, in excellent cond. Item 487186 ◊ 1906 Color Stereoview, "One of Russia's Powerful Cruisers, Around the World Series A rare and delightful "1906 Color Stereoview, "One of Russia's Powerful Cruisers, Around the World Series." Many of these companies pirated Stereoview from amateur stereoview photographers and released them in a series. Frequently they were colorized, like this one was. The original photos were likely shot in the 1880's. In the case of this card, the photo was printed directly on the mount. The mount measures approx. 7" x 3-1/2" (≈18 cm. X 9 cm.) . The stereoview is in excellent condition. The edges and other corners are mostly good shape … some maybe a tad soft. The back gives the title of this series of Stereoviews, "AROUND THE WORLD." In addition is lists all of this stereoviews in that series. Although the research into 3D viewers and photos started back in the first part of the 1800's, the real heyday of the "modern" stereoview started when stereo-cameras became readily available to amateur photographers in the late 1800's. And their popularity continued to the middle of the 1900's.
