This Bank Note was issued by the Bank of Augusta for $2 Dollars in 1863. The Note features a Vignette of a Bust of Benjamin Franklin and Vignettes of a Roman Woman with a Sword and a Soldier with a Staff on the obverse. This note from the early 1800's was used as a host to print fractional notes on the reverse during the Civil War. The fractional sheet was unissued and someone decided to save the earlier $2 note instead of the fractionals resulting in this early note with Civil War era notes printed on the back.
